BIG changes in 2011

It's a new year folks! K.Liz Designs has been going for a full year now, and I've decided that it's time for some changes. The changes will be progressive, but the BIG change is going to be the name. Over the next few weeks, K.Liz Designs will become THE FRAGRANT LOTUS.

The Fragrant Lotus will ultimately offer 22 fragrances, all aromatherapy in nature. The Fragrant Lotus candles will be our current SOY-SOY Good! 100% soy wax candles, in our new 16 ounce jars. The reed diffusers and SCENT to GO jelly jars will also be available in the 22 aromatherapy fragrances. Additionally, we are planning to add soy wax tarts for use in tart warmers, which we will eventually be offering a small selection of as well.

We will continue to carry the J.Paul Signature Collection in fragrances & colors chosen by my son. We will also continue to offer Candle of the Month. However, we will be phasing out the vast selection of fragrances that we currently offer, along with our 18 ounce Apothecary Jars; 16 ounce Kerr Wide Mouth Jars; and, both sizes of our travel tins. When we officially become The Fragrant Lotus, our logo and labels will change, but we will continue to keep our high standards to ensure that you are receiving the absolute best quality possible.

Here are the fragrances that we will be offering:

ENERGIZE: Energize your mind with a combination of fragrance oils and essential oils in spearmint, peppermint, and wintergreen aromas with a faint base note of citrus. COLOR: Yellow

MOOD: Enhance your mood with a combination of fragrance oils and essential oils in an uplifting floral aroma of fresh picked roses, with base notes of jasmine and musk. COLOR: Violet

PASSION: Start the romance with a combination of fragrance oils and essential oils, which blend floral notes such as lilac, gardenia, carnation and hyacinth on a strong bouquet of roses. COLOR: Green

RELAX: Let your worries melt away with a combination of fragrance oils and essential oils in the aroma of fresh picked lavender flowers, with a faint background of musk. COLOR: Blue

BASIL SAGE MINT: A garden fresh medley of basil leaves, clary sage and peppermint sprigs accented by hints of citrus zests, fresh spring flowers, and soft, soothing musk.

BEDTIME BATH: Soothing bedtime blend of mandarin, lavender and chamomile, neroli and lily of the valley. Bottom notes of hay and musk.

BLOOD ORANGE: Also known as the Maltese Orange, blood oranges produce an almost blood colored juice when the oranges are squeezed. This fragrance is a tangy, juicy orange scent with just a touch of floral thyme.

CHUBBA DUBBA [Weight Loss]: The fresh aroma blend of Sicilian orange, lemongrass, lemon slices, jasmine, green tea, and Tahitian vanilla. Before designing this fragrance, our supplier researched which aromas helped to decrease appetite. They had their perfumist create this blend using high concentrations of essential oils.

CITRONELLA BERRY: Essential oil of citronella combined with fruity notes of strawberry, mandarin, and raspberry.

FRENCH LAVENDER: The unique aroma of French lavender flowers.

FRESH OUTDOORS: A GREEN fragrance for those who absolutely love the outdoors! You'll smell the air, the grass, the dirt, and all of nature's beauty. This crisp fragrance creates a natural sensation. Breezy tones of fresh ozone and bright orange oil highlight a floral blend of jasmine and lily at the heart of the blend. Clean woody elements of cedar and pine balance with a hint of spice to accent the floral accord. A clear musk undertone envelops the outdoors sensation with shimmering sweetness.

LAVENDER APPLE: This fragrance will make your home smell clean, and will help to relax your mind at the same time! Lavender Apple fragrance starts with top notes of red delicious apple, raspberries, plum, and sugar; followed by middle notes of floral rosaceous green notes, lilac, pear, and eucalyptus; and sits on a powdery, woodsy musk base note.

LAVENDER FLOWERS: A wonderful aroma of true lavender flowers.

LAVENDER LUXURY: A lavender lover's dream! A tranquil combination of fresh herbs and cool camphor. Unique and lovely! Natures Garden's lavender luxury fragrance begins with top notes of Italian bergamot, eucalyptus leaves, citrus zest, and French lavender; followed by middle notes of lily of the valley, and clary sage; sitting on base notes of Nordic pine, cool camphor, and clove buds.

LAVENDER SAGE: The perfect, complex and unique, herbal combination! Lavender Sage fragrance begins with top notes of French lavender, lime, sage, and fern leaves; followed by middle notes of dill, pepper, moss, and ginger; and well rounded with base notes of pine, musk, and patchouli.

LIME CITRONELLA: A wonderful combination of essential oil of citronella, with notes of lemon, fresh lime, and white flowers.

MANDARIN LIME: High in essential oil content, Mandarin Lime fragrance is a simple, but complimentary arrangement of fresh mandarin oranges to energize your spirit, and fresh lime to improve your mood. A great, pick-me-up fragrance!

ORANGE BLOSSOM: The essential oil of Orange Blossom is an extremely potent, floral scent, with bitter top notes of green citrus. Orange blossom essential oil is used in fine fragrance to give them a robust, sensual aroma. Orange blossom essential oil is not only unique, it is one of the most expensive essential oils used in perfumery. In order to make Orange Blossom fragrance more well-rounded, the perfumist incorporated sweet, juicy mandarin oranges, muguet lily, fresh greenery notes, and a touch of amber to orange blossom petals to create this beautiful fragrance arrangement.

ROSEMARY: This fragrance contains high levels of essential oil of rosemary. A cool, crisp herbal having camphoraceous eucalyptus notes rounded out with coriander and rosemary.

ROSEMARY MINT: A crisp, minty herbal type with a peppermint and spearmint top note, a slightly herbaceous floral and rosemary middle note and a soft woody dry down.

VANILLA LAVENDER: It is a relaxing and tranquil scent that is also unique and memorable. A well-rounded combination of fresh lavender, fresh vanilla beans, with orange zests and patchouli.

YUZU: Yuzu is most likely the most popular scent on the market. Also referred to as Japanese Grapefruit, Yuzu is not your ordinary grapefruit scent. Yuzu begins with top notes of mandarin, tangerine, lemon satsuma, and ruby red grapefruit, middle notes of bergamot, and base notes of oakmoss.

Energize, Mood, Passion, and Relax will be available in only the colors that I've assigned to each of them. The color choices were made based on the colors of the Chakras. The color of the candles will be lighter when cool, as soy wax is ivory in color when solid, yet clear when burning. The 'true' color of the candle will show when the wax is melted.

The remaining 18 fragrances will be available in your choice of available colors listed on the site. I will be adding color samples to the site in an effort to assist you in choosing a color that you will be happy with.

Bridal Shower Special Order

This is a work in progress for a friend of mine. I'll be making sixty-five 2oz. votive candles for her sister's bridal shower. The candle color is HOT pink, and the wax will be scented with our various floral fragrances - 8 each: Wisteria, Honeysuckle, Plumeria, Jasmine, Orchid, Lavender, Tulips, Daisy. If you're doing the math, there will be 9 of one of the fragrances.

Today, I am searching for packaging for these little bitty candles. I can't wait to see which she picks.

2011 Already?!

Holy Moly! Where does the time go??? And, it's the end of January even... Oy!

Some things have changed with K.Liz Designs over the last couple months. I've changed the logo and product labels. Still not completely sure how I feel about the new logo, but it works...for now. I got tired of the "flourish"

I've added two new categories to the site:

2 - Candle of the Month

We're starting off the year by phasing out the Kerr jars. While they're great if you're going for a country look to your product, they're not working for me anymore. As a matter of fact, the Kerr jars are the reason that I had to change my labels. The new jars are also 16 ounces, but they're a little more squatty, and they have a black screw-on lid. Basically, they're specimen jars from a science supply store. These jars are a tad more expensive than the Kerr Jars, but they look a million times better - clean, and professional. Oh, and the new labels fit on them too!

Additionally, I am considering phasing out the 16 & 8 ounce tins, AND the 18 ounce Apothecary Jars. I haven't fully committed to this, but I'm definitely leaning that way.

This new year comes with special order requests as well. I've been asked to make 65 hot pink votive candles to be given as bridal shower favors. I also received a request for 16 centerpiece container candles for a wedding reception. I'm very excited to have been entrusted with these most important events!

Two big goals for K.Liz Designs this year are keeping up with this blog, and having more sales. "Like" us on Facebook or just visit the site for sale information. At the bottom of the site I have a Google Calendar on which I will be adding sales and events. I haven't been using the calendar as much as I should have for those who miss the announcements on our Facebook page, but that's all about to change!
